How far ahead sync goes

30 days on Free, 1 year on Plus, unlimited on Pro. Anything starting beyond that window doesn't get copied yet.

The control is How far ahead to sync, in the sync's settings.

Nothing is lost. As time passes, events move inside the window and get copied then. A meeting 45 days out on a Free plan appears in your other calendar about two weeks from now, on its own.

Why a sync looks incomplete

This is the usual reason an otherwise healthy sync looks like it's missing things. Your March events copied, your July events didn't, and it looks broken. It isn't — July is outside the window.

Quickest check: find an event that didn't copy and look at its start date. Count the days. If it's past your plan's window, that's your answer.

The window is forward-only

How far ahead to sync is about the future. Past events are a separate setting, Copy past events, and it only applies when the sync first runs: None, Past week, or Past month. The default is None, so a new sync copies from today onward and leaves your history alone.

If you needed history and picked None, changing the setting later doesn't reach back and fetch it. Nor can you go back further than a month — a full-history backfill isn't something you can request.

Repeating events ignore the window

A weekly standup copies as a whole series, including occurrences years out, no matter what your window says. Recurring events transfer as one repeating event rather than as hundreds of separate copies, so the window has nothing to apply to.

Two consequences worth knowing. A Free plan with a 30-day window can still have repeating events showing up 5 years out, which surprises people. And an event that used to repeat and got changed to a one-off suddenly becomes subject to the window like anything else.

After you upgrade

Change the setting on the sync — an upgrade widens what you're allowed to pick, but it doesn't move an existing sync's window for you. Set it to the wider option, then open the sync's menu and choose Re-sync. The catch-up isn't instant; a year of events is a lot to write, and calendar providers rate-limit how fast anyone can write to them. Give it a few runs.

Known limitations

• Free users setting up their first sync never see this control. 30 days is the only available option, so the wizard doesn't show the choice. Worth knowing if someone tells you to "check your window" and you can't find it.
• Downgrading narrows the window immediately. Going from Pro to Free means copies beyond 30 days stop being maintained.
• A per-sync window can only be narrower than your plan allows, never wider. Pick 30 days on Pro and you get 30 days.
• There's no "sync only the next two weeks" option. The choices are 30 days, 1 year, and unlimited.
